Where Do You Work From?
Blue Earth, Minnesota! You can usually find me working at the local Cabin Coffee or at my dining room table. Working remotely allows me to work where my family needs me to be or from wherever I am currently traveling. My favorite place to work is a coffee shop. The hustle and bustle of the people both helps me concentrate and gives me inspiration.
Why Website Design?
I am a behind-the-scenes person and I love helping small businesses grow. Website design is how I can help small businesses grow from behind-the-scenes so that they can focus on their products and clients.
How Did You Get Your Start?
After I quit my job working in student financial aid and professional development, I started taking courses with SkillCrush in website design and development. When I finished my courses I started looking for work in website design and management and I came across a job listing posted by Jessica Grajeda Freelance and Design. Jessica was looking for someone to help create promotional graphics and manage a client’s website and she took a chance on me, a complete newbie.
What Were You Doing Before Your Started Rachel Miller Designs?
Before I started Rachel Miller Designs, I had completed a Bachelor of Business Administration from Hamline University and was working for a small trade school in their student financial aid and professional development department.
What Do You Do Outside of Work?
I love spending time with my pup and my husband hiking, exploring coffee shops and breweries, and binge-watching Hulu.
Favorite TV Show?
That is a tough one, but I would have to say Gilmore Girls followed closely by New Girl and Freaks and Geeks.
Coffee Order?
My tried-and-true order is a nonfat latte, but if I am at Caribou Coffee (my absolute favorite) I love their Hot Handcrafted Presses.
Where Is Your Favorite Place?
I grew up in Minnesota where my grandparents have a home on a small lake. I am never happier than being there, specifically floating in the water with some friends.
What Is Your Favorite Part of Your Job?
Definitely watching my clients’ businesses grow. It is so rewarding to see the difference my work makes in my clients’ businesses.

I have worked with clients in a wide variety of industries including fashion, retail, home and lifestyle, ministry, nonprofit, and wellness.
